The Commission investigates various hazardous materials incidents in conjunction with local and county Offices of Emergency Management and the Jersey City, Bayonne and Hoboken Fire Department HazMat teams. The most noteworthy hazardous materials release in recent years occurred during 2002. The Commission expended in excess of 150 man-hours responding to a major release of chlorosulfonic acid which threatened the release of over 15,000 gallons of the material. The incident was successfully resolved without significant injuries to the members of the general public. |
